| Popis | Nanosyntax is a theory of syntax, morphology, and, in part, compositional semantics, which captures language variation as a consequence of different syntactic structures stored in the lexicon. The framework adheres to strict modularity, keeping the syntax free of both phonology and concepts. This is possible thanks to the absence of a pre-syntactic lexicon and to phrasal lexicalization applying after each syntactic operation. This article discusses the basic tools of the framework, how it captures syncretisms and allomorphy, and how it accounts for language variation, but also how it seeks to keep to a sparse version of compositionality via a Gricean view of unary features. |
