Dear applicants for a job at MUNI,
Since we have your CV in our database, we would like to introduce you to one of our departments in our current newsletter - this time it will be the Institute of Computer Technology (ICT).
📢 Discover the world of IT with us at MUNI!
The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) is one of the two institutes of Masaryk University and, unlike the faculties, it does not teach. For 45 years we have been focusing on science, development and support of the university IT ecosystem, cybersecurity. And we are currently looking for new colleagues who would like to create the future of university IT with us.

🔍 How do we work and who are we looking for?
The Institute of Computer Science is built on three key pillars:
- IT and Operations
- CERIT-SC
- Support Functions

💻 IT and Operations: The Systems that Keep the University Running
Every day, tens of thousands of MUNI students and staff log into systems, connect to the network or need IT support. To keep everything running smoothly, securely and reliably, our IT and operations teams are behind it.
We manage the infrastructure - from the fibre-optic networks connecting university buildings to key IT systems. We look after the running of university services, with our digital identity solution enabling 40,000 users to securely access all university IT services.
We also develop information systems - we operate and develop the university's economic and personnel system, manage the internal portal and develop new ways of working with databases and university data.
But IT is not just about technology - it is also about people. We have an extensive user support team and a monitoring centre that monitors the operation of university services 24/7.
Last but not least, cybersecurity plays a key role. The university manages a huge amount of data and is a frequent target for attacks - so our team provides not only technological protection, but also training and awareness.

🔬 CERIT-SC: Connecting IT and Science to Advance Research
Science and research today is data-driven - CERIT-SC is a research IT infrastructure centre dedicated to providing researchers with cutting-edge technology facilities.
Their work covers a wide range of services:
Computing Capabilities - We operate batch, cloud and container platforms that enable efficient data analysis and simulation.
- Working with sensitive data - we offer a secure computing environment SensitiveCloud.
- Research data management - we support the FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and provide tools like the Data Stewardship Wizard for data management planning.
- European collaboration - we are part of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
- Scientist support - we offer consulting, computational optimization and data management assistance.

🛠️ The Background on Which Everything Stands
Behind every successful IT system and scientific project is a team of people who make sure everything runs smoothly. The support functions at ICS are the backbone of our organisation - they connect the different parts of the Institute and help our colleagues focus on their specialist work.
In Human Resources, we're all about recruiting new talent, developing staff and building a good working environment. Marketing and communications help spread awareness of our work, both within the University and to the public.
Our projects often require effective financial and administrative management, which is handled by the Economics and Procurement teams who provide funding, budget management and strategic investment. And last but not least, there's Operations, which looks after the day-to-day running of offices and workspaces to ensure we have everything we need to get the job done.
