Happy summer time!

Dear alumni, colleagues,

I hope you are reading this newsletter doing well in all regards. Our academic year is closing. Many of our students have successfully completed their studies. Our researchers have made new discoveries. We are thrilled to see growing interest among high school students to study at our Faculty and try to stimulate it by various projects, such as the Junior Academy - perhaps your children may be interested to participate? They could be an ideal opportunity to reconnect with ourselves. Yet, the quality of rest does not depend solely on the length of the holidays. It also matters whether we can truly be here and now during our time off. What is the impact of present-moment awareness on the psychological effects of the summer break? Read about what science tells us and some useful tips for your own well-being.

Junior Academy offers pathway to medicine to high school students

The Junior Academy is a programme of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University designed for Czech and international high school students who are interested in science and medicine. This programme offers to such students an excellent opportunity to work on scientific projects in a team with expert mentors from the Faculty. Within the SPAT (Student Professional Activity Theses), with in-person or online options, students gain practical experience in laboratories and clinics. After their successful defence, they also get admission bonuses.

The goal of the programme is to foster students' interest in natural sciences and medicine and to develop their creativity, critical thinking and scientific methodology skills. If you know high school students who wish to be mentored and empowered to begin their path to university and medical careers, please refer them to our Junior Academy and SPAT page. They can begin their journey there to follow in your footsteps at our Faculty.
