Assistant Professor for Division of Genetics a Molecular Biology

Type of Contract: temporary position with 3 year contract (with possible extension), academic

Working Hours: 1 FTE (full-time employment of 40 hours per week)

The Department of Experimental Biology at the Faculty of Science MU is a modern, fully equipped workplace where individual research groups are engaged in teaching accredited study programmes and research at all levels - from molecules and cells to invertebrates and humans; from basic research to the application of results in human and veterinary biomedicine.

Description of the offered position

  • Involvement in the educational process of undergraduate and graduate students of study programmes Molecular Biology and Genetics and Medical Genetics and Molecular Diagnostics (teaching genetics in lectures, exercises, seminars, final theses supervision)
  • Research activities in the field of genetics focused on human genetics and molecular biology
  • Searching for and applying for research projects, solving ongoing projects
  • Participation in and preparation of promotional events for the public and schools
  • Opportunities for further professional and skills development in the field of genetics

Skills and Qualifications

The applicant must have:

  • MSc. university degree and Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology or related fields
  • Ability and interest to teach genetics in the Czech language (native speaker or documented C2 language certificate)
  • Active research and publishing activity in the field of human genetics and molecular biology
  • Knowledge of standard genetic and molecular biology techniques
  • Research focus and experience with experimental work and independent project solution in the field of genetics or molecular biology of humans and other organisms
  • Independently solving research and development tasks
  • Pedagogical experience
  • Active approach to submitting national and international research projects
  • Active approach to promoting the study of genetics and molecular biology at events for the public and on social networks
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of the English language (written and verbal)
