High school graduates not applying to study at MU

The survey among high school graduates not applying to study at Masaryk University was conducted for the first time in 2023. It maps the reasons for not applying to Masaryk University. The questionnaire was distributed to final-year high school students via school principals and through social networks.

The survey focuses on the following thematic areas:

  • plans and attitudes regarding future university studies,
  • criteria for choosing a university,
  • admission procedures,
  • reasons for not applying to Masaryk University,
  • other selected information.

MU Applicants

Masaryk University conducts its own survey among applicants for studies who submit their application to Bachelor's or long-cycle Master's degree programmes. Analysis of the answers brings valuable findings concerning the expectations and current feelings associated with studies, key factors contributing to applying to MU and strengths and weaknesses of MU compared to other universities in the Czech Republic.

MU Applicants (foreign-language programmes)

In 2021, apart from the main survey among applicants for studies in Czech-language programmes, MU for the first time conducted an additional survey aimed at applicants for studies in foreign-language programmes. Some questions in this survey are identical to those in the main survey, which enables the comparison between the two groups. This survey was conducted again in 2022.

Accepted applicants not registered for study at MU

Survey among applicants who applied, were admitted but subsequently did not enrol to study at Masaryk University. It was conducted for the first time in 2023 and maps the reasons for not enrolling at Masaryk University and/or choosing another university for enrolment.

The survey focuses on the following areas of interest:
- criteria for enrolment at an university
- reasons for choosing else then Masaryk University
- perceptions of Masaryk University and other universities
- further information

Image of MU through Czech and Slovak secondary school students' view

The aim of the realized survey Image of Masaryk University through Czech and Slovak secondary school students' view was to map which criteria current secondary school students in third or fourth year who consider university studies apply to choose the university and how they rate Masaryk University.

Results of the survey help to define the current position of Masaryk University among other universities in the eyes of potential applicants for studies.

Universum Talent Research

Masaryk university took part in the fourth year of Universum Talent Research survey. In the Czech Republic the survey took place from November 2016 until March 2017 and more than 14,000 university students were involved (globally over 1.4 million respondents). The survey shows summary results about Generation Y but also describes trends among students of particular fields and young generation's opinions on career and their educational facility.

MATURANT 2016

The survey MATURANT 2016 conducted by LMC Ltd. was focused on secondary school graduates and which way they choose a university and a field of study as well as which sources of information they use during this process and also their overall lifestyle (such as the use of mass media, leisure time activities, life values etc.).

Millennials

NMS Market Research agency looked at lives of Czech millennials (people aged 15–35). Survey results portray young generation's thinking, communication, life values and preferences and help create marketing tools aimed at this generation.
