Premature Termination of Studies at MU

Student survey

The Premature termination of studies at MU survey was first launched in 2012 and annual consecutive surveys have been held since then.

Along with the questionnaire survey, a qualitative survey was also undertaken in autumn 2012 in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Studies. The qualitative component included interviews with faculty representatives and selected students who failed to complete their studies at MU.

A short questionnaire is automatically sent to all students who terminate their studies prematurely. The questionnaire focuses on the following areas:

  • influence of individual factors on premature termination,
  • preferences and requirements of abandoned studies,
  • tools implemented in solving study-related problems,
  • additional study and work activities.

MU field guarantors survey

Survey was targeting MU Bachelor’s and long-cycle Master’s field guarantors and was realized with the intention of mapping the perception of unsuccessful completion of studies itself, finding out the reasons for unsuccessful completion of studies from the view of guarantors, mapping the practical consequences of study dropout at departments and, last but not least, finding examples of faculties' good practice in the field of solving the dropout problem.

The survey was conducted in 2017. It was attended by a total of 146 out of 161 guarantors, representing a 91% response rate.
