Instruments (CCDs, computers, sensors) and people (social media) are producing unprecedented amount of data. Ability to process and learn from the data is crucial for understanding today's world. We have access to massive computer power, easy to use open source software as well as open available data but we are missing the skills. This lecture is supposed to give an overview of trends about data intensive science and show possible ways to gain these abilities.
