This anthology contains articles focused on a wide range of issues related to the right to education. Among the topics presented are kindergarten enrolment, equal access to primary school education, university autonomy, the status of private universities, accreditation procedure, judicial review of secondary schools evaluation (the national school leaving exam) and university education, freedom of study within the European Union and also the difficult search for balance between freedom of speech and public education in the USA. The individual articles were written by renowned scholars, practicing lawyers, judges and members of the Ombudsman’s staff. The anthology targets both readers with an interest in legal issues as well as those with a focus on education such as teachers, sociologists, political scientists and economists.
