Presentation of Pavel Janoušek’s book about Vladimír Macura

Pavel Janoušek, literary scholar and an old collaborator of Vladimír Macura, is presenting a monograph on this outstanding Czech literary theorist, author, and translator (1945–1999). The author demonstrates Macura’s ideas and opinions, especially his relation to the (Czech) Structuralism, and gives an exhaustive description and analysis of his major work, Marking a Genus: The Czech National Revival as a Cultural Typus. Janoušek also recounts still little known facts about Macura’s life and his mystifications, e.g. a pseudo-scientific conference on the phenomenon of water nymphs.
