On July 20, 2015, major scientific institutions across five continents unite in a global celebration of the vision of one man, a man whose discoveries helped shape the world we live in today. Join us for a state-of-the-art visual and orchestral spectacular celebrating 150 years since Gregor Johann Mendel first discovered the principles of genetics. Mendel: The Legacy broadcasts live from Brno, the Czech Republic, the place where the father of genetics first formulated his ideas.


Mendel museum of Masaryk university is proud to present, on July 20, 2015, Mendel: The Legacy. A video-mapping multimedia extravaganza projected on the Augustinian abbey, where Mendel conducted his research, with simultaneous projections on scientific institutions worldwide. Featuring specially created animation by emmy and bafta winning animator Drew Berry accompanied by a live full-orchestral score by composer Duncan Hendy.


Mendel: The Legacy is part of the global celebration, "Mendel: The Legacy - 150 years of the genius of genetics", which is held under the auspices of Bohuslav Sobotka - prime minister of the Czech Republic, Mikuláš Bek - rector of Masaryk University and the Czech commission of UNESCO.

Join the specially invited guests, for free, inside the abbey's courtyard, including the czech prime minister, the president of the Royal society, sir Paul Nurse, the british and american ambassadors, and many others. Please register at mendelthelegacy@gmail.com before July 17. Tickets can be collected at Mendel museum or at Masaryk university's Headquarters. After this date, tickets are 250 Kč. Tickets for the VIP section are limited and are strictly on a first come, first served basis.

Don't worry if you still want to be part of the celebrations. The event will be projected for free on a giant hd screen on the outside wall. We have loads of room for everyone!
