Polar Ecology Course 2016

Winter polar ecology course 2016will be held from March 21st to April 4th 2016 and will take place in the research station in Longyearbyen - Svalbard. This will be two weeks of field work in the pristine Arctic environment for both Czech and Norse students all together.


The course will cover all important topics of winter landscape and environmental processes from meteorology, climatology to glaciology, hydrology and winter ecology in general. 10 students from Czech universities and additional Norse students will spend two weeks mostly in the field in the close neighborhood of Longyearbyen. We will use skis and snowshoes for transportation to the field.All students have to be able to move in difficult winter terrain on skis and have appropriate outdoor equipment and experiences.
All students should apply till December 24th 2015. The application must include CV and motivation letter, where a basic motivation to attend such course should be described altogether with previous experience with such working conditions.
