Results of the research supported by the grant (GA CR 205/95/0599) appeared the necessity of an extensive revision and new studies of the Neogene deposits of the Alpine Molasse Zone and of the Carpathian Foredeep (Moravia and Lower Austria). The biostrat igraphical and sedimentological studies of the Lower and Middle Miocene depodits are proposed. The prime attention will be oriented towards the biostratigraphial definition of the Karpathian and Lower Badenian boundary layers. The sector of the global zo nes Globigerinoides bispericus - Praeorbulina - Orbulina was newly proved. The exact evaluation of this sector is very important both for the broader stratigraphical correlation and for the basin development. Results of the proposed study could be utilis e in the geological mapping.
