The subject of the project is the period of what is known as the opposition agreement between 1998 and 2002. The main objective is comprehensive analysis of this period based on interconnected studying of three levels. The first level is political, social, and economic context of the origin and functioning of the opposition agreement. The second level is represented by the structure (arrangement) of the opposition agreement, both on the level of formal and informal agreements relating to it, and (mainly) the relations and counter-reactions which it created in the political reality. The third level will reflect the impacts of the opposition agreement on the behaviour of participants, political culture, and political system in the Czech Republic. The project is primarily designed as political scientific. It will however make significant use of the approaches and knowledge of contemporary history, constitutional law, and sociology.
