Description Brownfields are properties that have lost their original purpose, they are neglected and can be degraded by ecological burdens. Brownfields usually arise as a result of industrial, agricultural, residential or military activities. Brownfields are a problem in all countries, but in countries undergoing economic transformation a considerable amount of them arises in a short time. A large number of brownfields is a barrier to the development of the region and therefore the regeneration often involves some public sources. Through case studies the article demonstrates examples of brownfields regeneration in the South Moravian and the Moravian-Silesian regions and presents a generalization of the findings.
