Description Nursing is a practice-based profession and therefore the quality of the clinical learning environment in relation to student nurses and their teachers is an important part of their educational experience. One important aspect of this learning experience is educational relationship between the qualified nurses and students. The Empowering the Professionalization of Nurses through Mentorship (EmpNURS) project focused in professional development of clinical and student nurses. This international project produced the Mentorship model which strengthens nursing profession in clinical practice. The initial Mentorship programme was developed by the project and then implemented in four new member states within the European Union. These handbooks are based on the EmpNURS project (2010–13),which was supported by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union. Each publication includes the same preface, and they also share a common list of references.
