Description Expressed breast milk (EBM) is natural nutrition of newborns even in situation when breastfeeding is not possible. EBM uses in neonatology also becouse of the protective effect in prevention of neonatal sepsis. There are also situations where EBM has been applied to the transfer medium of nosocomial infection. Is likely that risk of transmission of infection is low and its assesment is based on the level of safety requirements, which are or will be in the future placed to nutrition provided by EBM. The said issue should be viewed comprehensively and before implementation of clinical nutrition by EBM it is necessary to competently assess the benefits and risks.
