Description The material deals with the theory-of-state-aspects of the federalism and the state dissolution. Therefore, the basic concepts of the theory of state are mentioned: state, federation, confederation and the issue of the dissolution of the state. This material also expounded the process of the establishment of autonomous lands of Slovakia and Ruthenia. Then, the matter of the Second Czecho-Slovak Republic is analysed by mentioned theory-of-state-aspects. The contribution summarized reason why the Second Czecho-Slovak republic was trialistic asymmetric federation (e.g. the citizenship of Czecho-Slovakia and autonomous areas, dual official authorities, participation of autonomous areas on Czecho-Slovakia, the possibility of constitutions of the autonomous areas etc.). According to the opinions of the Badinter Arbitration Commission from the 1990’s the existence of Czecho-Slovakia ended when the federal organs lost their effective power which generally implies the existence of the federation.
