Description This article describes two-way active involvement of helping professionals and their clients into cooperation in case management as a method of social work. It tries to answer what active participation means and what benefits and difficulties brought into cooperation. The article also looks for answers: how active involvement affects the achievement of desired changes which clients seek. In the first part defines key concepts: case management, its development, models in foreign countries and its form in the Czech Republic, active participation, client with multiple needs, professional role of case manager and participation of other actors in the cooperation. The second part of the article follows these concepts in the testimonies of seven helping professionals and seven clients who evaluated the cooperation in case management as a coordinated complex method, in research 2012.
