Description Altogether 414 protected and threatened species of fungi, lichens, plants and animals were found in the Kraslice region during the 20th and 21st centuries. The high richness of species of a conservation importance is due to the occurrence of unique and well-preserved habitats in the region, namely cliffs and screes, meadows and heaths, non-calcareous fens, transitional mires and raised bogs, and waterlogged spruce forests. Especially the spring area of the Rolava river and the surroundings of the town of Přebuz are the most precious and also the best explored areas, which recently received the status of a national nature reserve. Some recorded species are within the Czech Republic known only from this area or were recorded there for the first time in the country. The existence of large areas of habitats which are scarce elsewhere in the Czech Republic enable the occurrence of large populations of generally rare species. The presented list testifies the high conservation value of the Kraslice region and should serve as a basis for further nature conservation and restoration activities in the future.
