Description Quantitative geographical analysis of 6253 municipalities of Czech Republic (CR) deals with data of population change and with data on land use changes in 2008-2013 and search for effects of decreasing population to land use changes. Paper contents basic context of land use changes in CR, also it outlines the settlement structure of the CR, structure and evolution of agricultural land use and permanent grassland (most increasing land use category). The key analysis of the article is refutation of the hypothesis that in communities, where the population is reduced, the proportion of permanent grassland increase. Maps and statistical tests confirmed that in the depopulated places are municipalities with increasing and also decreasing of grassing. The author also points to regional differences and identifies regions and municipalities with the largest gains and losses of grassland.
