| Description | This paper describes alternatives to concumerism within the freegan subculture. Freeganism is a life style strategy based on limited consumption of resources in order to minimize dependence on what is termed the "conventional economy." A synthesis of two research projects (Lojdová, 2014; Plojharová 2015) shows five alternatives to consumerism within freegan subculture: dumpster diving, veganism, modesty, experience consumption and education within public space. These alternatives present critical reflection of dominant cultural practice. |
