Description The aim of the study was to check the effect of the anthropogenic activity on the concentration of potentially hazardous elements in fluvisols, which are widely used for agricultural purposes. Two soil profiles have been studied in Oslavany and Ivančice localities. Soil samples of fine fraction were studied including vertical distribution of selected elements (Zn, Cr, Ni a Fe; ICP-MS) in context to other soil parameters including all standard pedological methods: particle size analysis, specific weight and frequency dependent susceptibility, gamma-ray spectrometry, loss on ignition, pH/KCl and sequential extraction analysis (SEA). Increased concentration of 137Cs (Oslavany 29,9 ppm, Ivančice 11,7 ppm) in both studied profiles demonstrate that the profiles partially correspond to the period of the Oslavany power plant operation. A substantial part of the Ivančice profile documents sedimentation before 1986. Increased concentrations of Zn (Oslavany = 168 ppm, Ivančice = 155 ppm) and Cr (Oslavany = 301 ppm, Ivančice = 307,9 ppm) have been detected in both profiles. Results of SEA indicate that studied elements Zn, Cr, Ni and Fe bind mainly to the Fe-Mn oxides. The elements Zn, As and Fe bind mainly to the organic matter/sulphides in both profiles, which is documented by a positive correlation with LOI (As, Fe, Zn vs. LOI: R2 = 0,641, 0,590, 0,518). The element analysis of fluvisols differ from the average composition of rocks in Boskovice Furrow (Cr = 126,6 ppm, Zn = 54,5 ppm); therefore, it can be assumed, that the development of fluvisols in Oslavany area was influenced by anthropogenic activities, probably in connection with the activity of the Oslavany power plant.
