| Description | In this text I analyse specific tactics of hybrid attacker – the Islamic state. For this analysis, I choose specifically the use of rural and desert areas as „sanctuaries“ and means for freedom of movement and action. Another employed tactics rests in use of weather conditions, esp. dust storms as a concealment for movements of IS forces. Third and final presented tactic are vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices. Against those I suggest and analyse several countermeasures based on the situational information from Iraq and Syria. The main argument goes for use of light mechanized forces based on tactics of Somali militia, which could be employed especially for training of Iraq security forces. Finally, I synthesis this approach on basis of forward area defence with two types of stationary positions – checkpoints/strongpoints and forward operational bases in combination in both light („swarm“-tactics) and heavy mechanized forces. |
