Description Professional dermatoses occur in a direct relation to one's work. Clinically they are no different from non-professional dermatoses. Most significant professional dermatoses include contact irritant dermatitis and contact allergic eczemas. The most common causes of professional contact irritant dermatitis are petroleum derivatives (mineral oils and cooling emulsions prepared from them) and cleaning/ disinfecting products. The most significant contact allergens in professional settings include plastics (from those, epoxides and acrylates are the most common) rubber-working chemicals, metals (cobalt, chromium, nickel), disinfectants and various additives for industrial liquids. From infectious skin diseases acquired in professional settings, scabies is the most common one among healthcare workers; others have been greatly reduced, for example trichophytosis, noduli mulgentium, erysipeliod, borreliosis or other, less common ones. Only rarely we can encounter acne oleosa, and we have not encountered symptoms of chronic ra-diodermatitis among healthcare workers for years now. Skin tumours can be a serious professional dermatological disease, if they meet strict classification criteria.
