Description Quantitative research study was realized with the aim to map out spending the free time, benefits and risks related to modern information and communication technologies. By using anonymous questionnaire of 20 items a sample of 150 students from lower primary of two intentionally selected schools in the North Moravian region was addressed. Half of the children spend their leisure time at the computer, one-third of them on social networks. Although there is an obvious desire of respondents to be outside, one-third of children do sports only at school in physical education lessons. Three-quarters of the sample have an access to the Internet at home, for up to 90% of respondents potentially harmful content is not limited in any way. Barely half of parents monitor what kind of websites their children visit; the issue of cyber security is considerably underestimated.
