Description | Goals of the workshop are to apply the concept, process and methods of design thinking into context of libraries, its employees ways of work, to develop creativity as well as critical thinking of its participants, to introduce them set of tools for designing services, and to improve their competencies in stakeholder research. The concept and methodology of the workshop is reflecting the applied research study “Stimulators and Barriers Towards Social Innovations in Public Libraries: Qualitative Research Study”, particularly its outputs related to findings, that libraries and librarians work within low quality of innovation environment, stakeholder communication and involvement into intentions and activities, motivating target groups into intentions and activities, competencies and motivations to provide user research and testing, as well as working in teams. The workshop results in tested methodology of education event, applying service design process and methods, relevant forms of user research, such as contextual interview, stakeholder mapping, creating and user testing a prototype of a design of a service, as well as selected methods for analysis and ideation. The methodology is based on the human-centered design concept, its tools and procedures, developed by the IDEO agency and described in the “Design thinking for libraries” publication. The workshop has tested using these tools and procedures in the context of library work and processes. |
