Description Croatian populations of the snake-eyed skink, Ablepharus kitaibelii Bibron & Bory, 1833, are known only from two isolated localities, Papuk Mountain and Ilok. The ecology of Papuk population has been intensively studied during last 10 years to obtain information for its effective conservation management. The current conservation efforts aim to reduce the impact of factors which negatively affect skink population dynamics and push this population towards extinction risk.
