Description The article summarises our current knowledge on the raw material base of polished industry connected with the Linear Pottery culture in Upper Silesia. Altogether 106 new determinations of polished tools have shown absolute prevalence (103 pieces) of metabasites among used raw materials. In spite of the situation we were not able to determine reliably the provenance of 53 metabasites polished tools (we could investigate the artefacts with only non-destructive methods, it means the examination under stereomicroscope and measuring of magnetic susceptibility by portable Kappameter KT-6), there is no doubt about presence of metabasites from both the most important natural sources mined in prehistoric times within the Bohemian Massif, it means from the Jizerské hory Mts. in northern Bohemia and Želešice in the Brno region.
