Description The aim of this paper is to research the presence of animal ingredients on the ancient curse tablets. Despite the wide presence of animal ingredients within the texts of Greek magical papyri (142 papyri texts contain at least one animal ingredient), there are only four currently known curse tablets mentioning animal ingredients. This paper goes into the details of each occurrence and gives possible explanations for the difference in numbers, while also focusing on animal ingredients on each curse tablet and providing possible reasons for its specific use within the ritual. As the basis for the research serves the epigraphic evidence (curse tablets and Greek magical papyri).
