Description Linking two seemingly incompatible concepts - Marxism and Christianity - in liberation theology still provokes mixed reactions today, especially from other Christian denominations. Although this connection seemed to be a local phenomenon in Latin America, it has been taken up by other groups, including in Indian settings: for example, Dalit theologians. The main aim of this text is to explore the interconnectedness of liberation theology with Dalit theology and its relationship with Marxism. The text will follow the theme by trying to provide answers to questions such as: What is the starting position of these traditions, how do they differ, and how do they react to social and political problems in the respective areas?
