| Description | Wild small mammals and ticks play an important role in maintaining and spreading of zoonosis in nature but also in captive animals. The aim of this study was to detect antibodies to selected bacteria and parasites in wild rodents and ticks collected in area of zoo Brno. Heart rinses of rodents were used for serological examination by modified enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to detect antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi s.l., Coxiella burnetii and Francisella tularensis. Heart-printing of wild small mammals were examined by modified agglutination test to detect antibodies to Leptospira spp. Tissue samples (brain and liver) of small mammals were used for direct detection of T. gondii and Encephalitozoon spp. by PCR. The DNA isolated from ticks was used to detect B. burgdorferi s.l., Rickettsia sp. and A. phagocytophillum. |
