Description It is impossible to experience the same event twice in a lifetime, let alone travel through time. This is what makes the study of the past - whether near or far - so incredibly engrossing. For it is an attempt to do the impossible: to reverse the flow of time. It is logically impossible to relive a medieval pilgrimage; everything has changed: the roads, the shoes, the clothes are different, the cities are different, and even the medieval monuments, worn by the ravages of time, are different. And yet, for 11 years now, I have been persistently walking with my students - and in that time we have walked more than 5,000 km - along the sweat paths of the past, to get a little closer to how a human being could experience something like this. The tool I use for my research is then my own body, measuring and examining its reactions, looking for what binds people together across time. The aim of this talk is to present the results of my research while sharing the surreal experiences where past and present meet.
