Description As a contribution to the mountain archaeology of Northern Oman, the poster presents the results of a 1st assessment of the geological, sedimentological, and petrological conditions at the prehistoric site Hayl Ajah in February, 2022. Due to coupling of the bedrock (immature karst) with site-specific depositional and hydrological situation, the sediment-filled karst depression (=?ayl, pl. ?uyul) has been a unique place for the natural species and prehistoric visitors inside the eroded heights of the Jebel Kawr in the central part of Al-Hajar Mts. A large number of stone artefacts from different periods made not always of local raw materials show that Hayl Ajah (1012 m a.s.l.) and surrounding, smaller ?uyul were popular places during various prehistoric periods.
