Citation
Description The viewer comes to the gallery with his or her own aesthetic and life experiences, knowledge of art history, cultural expectations or desires. An artist can influence his ideas and aesthetic interaction with art with different strategies: with the title of the work, with targeted intertextual allusions, with his own interpretative commentary or even with instructions on what to imagine. The artist of conceptual art thereby counts on an active spectator when he incorporates different performative, narrative and interpretative scenarios into the expected interaction of a recipient with his work. Examples from contemporary Czech conceptual art are used to show how literary and cognitivist approaches can contribute to the semantisation of aesthetic communication.
