Description As part of the study carried out in the valley floodplain of the Spálené brook in the years 2020-2022, season-long monitoring of beetles, bugs and flat-winged insects took place based on vacuuming with a modified garden vacuum cleaner, sliding with an entomological net and catching in ground traps. We experimentally demonstrated that the highest species richness and abundance of populations of monitored bioindicative groups of insects were on experimental farmed areas, especially on areas that were intensively mowed. However, some species, especially in the case of bugs, preferred the control stand, which confirms the importance of a combination of different management methods, including leaving some areas untouched. In order to support the biodiversity of beetles, the very presence of grazers in the locality, which in a very short time began to be populated by coprophagous species, was used as a crucial effect. After targeted revitalization, the monitored locality thus represents an entomologically significant habitat that rightfully deserves further care and attention from the professional public.
