Description This case study discusses the problems of a 5th grade student in mastering the operation of multiplication. Its aim is to draw attention to the difficulties encountered by some pupils with specific learning disabilities, and to point out how it can be challenging for them to master the operation of multiplying natural numbers in the area of a small multiplication table. The intention of this case study was also to find and describe suitable strategies that would further advance the pupil in his performance and compensate for the existing difficulties in multiplication. This is an issue from the field of mathematics didactics, and we present it here in connection with specific learning disorders. A selected case study illustrating this issue could become inspiring and useful for mathematics teachers, primary school teachers, consultants in the field of education, but also for students - future mathematics teachers or parents of children with the described difficulties.
