Description Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to chromosomes or DNA fibers is a powerful technique to map genes and DNA sequences to specific regions.In Silene latifolia, sequences 15 and 19 were studied in order to determine their copy numbers and accurate positions relative to telomere using extended DNA fiber-FISH (EDF-FISH).Fluorescent signals for sequence 15 were consistently observed at the distal portion of almost all chromosomes, while 19 signals were detected at the telomeric region of roughly 6 to 10 chromosomes per diploid genome.Results of EDF-FISH showed that sequences 15 and 19 are adjacently located with telomere.
