Description The contemporaneous stress field on the territory of Czech Republic have an orientation of maximum stresses NNW-SSE up to N-S. A cumulating of the earthquakes epicentres in NW Bohemia, the direction of spread of the Alpine earthquakes in to the Bohemian Massif and probably the direction of thermal flow from the geothermal positive anomalies in the South to the negative anomaly under the North European platform correspond to this orientation of the stress field. Residual stresses of Tertiary palaeofield are oriented perpendicular to the Alpine and Carpathian arch. Each orogeny which affected the Bohemian Massif was followed by its breaking up into the blocks with various of isostatic uplift or sinking. The temperature field of the continental crust is irregular and its variability is not connected with the rise of the energy flows from the interior of Earth only.
