Description Authors present the first part of complete review of results of association studies of alcoholism since 1990 until 2003. Most investigated genes in relationship with alcoholism are involved in dompamine neurotransmission. Present paper is focused on relationship between dopamine receptors and alcoholism. Up to now, many DRD1, DRD2, DRD3 and DRD4 polymorphisms were studied. Our review resumes and comments these association studies.
