Description One of the planned investigations of internationally co-ordinated prospective epidemiologic study ELSPAC took place in the period of 18 months after the birth of child. Among multiple indicators of mothers` medical condition there are also some markers featuring the reproductive health and sexual behaviour. 3523 of women participated in the investigation (75,9 % of non-smokers, 16,4 % of medium heavy and 1,1 % of heavy smokers). There were found the significant differences in the medical condition of the women with various smoking addictions, among other things also in the frequency of menstrual problems and unwanted new pregnancies, artificially interrupted. The results confirm that a bigger attention should be paid to the smoking women since the hormonal disorders also belong to the numerous health impairments caused by smoking and in such case an effective anti-smoking intervention can contribute to the lowering of the accute gyneacologic problems in young and middle-age women.
