Description The Unanticipated Consequences of Communication Ideology in the Context of Information Society The main goal of this paper is to show most important unanticipated consequences of so called communication ideology, which is determined by subsequent social trends: the belief in positive, socially integrating power of communication, prevailing logic of commodification of knowledge and extreme individualism. The unanticipated consequences of these trends we can summarize in subsequent characteristics: 1/ rapid expansion of simulated and spectacular information and their mass consumption in virtual environment, It is the dominant mode how people understand what is "true". Interaction via electronic media is dominated by informational simulations" (Poster, 1990). Truth" and falsity" become more fragmented, 2/ narcissistic and voyeuristic communication style of presentation has become a normal aspect of communication and create specific social atmosphere, which called Richard Sennett as a terror of intimacy (Sennett, 1977). Strong role of narcissistic discourse has legitimized exhibitionist style of self-presentation and simultaneously intensive, institutional control of human interaction, too, 3/ increasing commodification of knowledge, which strengthen primary and secondary information inequalities, Those with weaker economic a cultural background/information resources will continue to depend on conventional mass media while those with greater economic and cultural background rely more on new network-based information sources and on increasing quantity of specialized communication channels, 4/ appearance of electronic isolationism, which is characterized by loss of motivation to seek and to share common values. The consequence of this situation is the derogation of public sphere whose destruction has been accelerated under influence of new information and communication technologies. In the last two decades have been start up relatively invisible process of communication isolation, which is characterized by fragmentation population into smaller communities of particular interests.
