Description Information and Communication Technology is a tool for generating and distributing information, some of which can be environmental in nature and worldwide in scope. Summer schools of applied informatics combine environmental topics with the dissemination potential of informatics to implement access to environmental data and research findings as information offerings on the Internet. This paper seeks to clarify how the conference–based exchange of research results, information sources and newly developed applications stimulates knowledge integration and competence building. We summarize here also topics of the 3th Summer School of Applied Informatics, which was hold this year in Bedřichov 25. - 27 August 2006.
