Description The possibility of direct determination of Co, Nb, Ta and Ti in WC/Co cemented materials by different methods of laser ablation (LA-ICP-OES/MS, LIBS) has been studied. Using systems with higher laser wavelengths, fractionation occurred. The problem of fractionation arose especially in case of cobalt as an element with low melting and boiling temperature (1495stC and 2927stC) and different linkage in hard-metal samples comparing with other elements of interest. Signal vs. content dependences constructed for each element and each method show best correlation coefficients for LA-ICP-MS method using Nd:YAG @213 nm laser. Described LA-ICP-MS method is suitable for determination of mentioned analytes with repeatability up to 8% RSD. LIBS method using excimer laser is suitable for determination of Nb, Ta and Ti with repeatability up to 10% RSD. For Co determination using LIBS, only semiquntitative estimation is possible.
