Description More than 2650 species are known from all the main biogeographical regions. Aquatic or at least semi-aquatic larvae are known in 75 spp. and presumed in 889 species. The majority of descriptions are based on larvae originating from the Nearctic and the western part of the Palaearctic Regions.
