| Description | There are parables with the names of colours in Czech that compare colour of human face, skin of colour of anything else to the colour of anything of nature: of plants (žlutý jako pampeliška, žlutý jako citron), of animals or birds (žlutý jako kanárek) or to the colours of anything else in the natural scenery (šedý jako moře, šedý jako hvězdný večer), or the parables can compare the colour of the human body to the colour of some things (žlutý jako vosk, žlutý jako pergamen, šedý jako ocel). Authors of belles-lettres or of poetry using parables-comparison with the words žlutý usually depict human visage as a symptom of illness or caducity (jeho obličej byl žlutý jako vosk) or they etiolate the people (zuby měl žluté jako citron). Using word šedý / grey in parables comparison authors sometimes depict people of nasty appearance (obličej šedý jako prach), but sometimes they picture something nice of the human appearance (oči šedé jako hvězdné nebe / jako moře). |
