Description This monograph is a sociological analysis of anti-pornography feminist discourse. It focuses on the concepts of gender and sexuality, as well as the notion of performativity in the context of the symbolic power of speech acts. Against the backdrop of anti-pornography debates, the importance of the connection between gender and sexuality is especially clear. This work critically analyzes the concept of gender and its link to sexuality as it is (both explicitly and implicitly) framed by anti-porn feminism. The text then examines anti-pornography discourse in the contemporary Czech Republic, by analyzing sexological and criminological texts on pornography. Although these disciplines dominate the current Czech discourse on pornography, both reveal a strong resonance with anti-porn feminism. Finally, the text focuses on the anti-porn feminist argument that pornography discriminates against women. This claim is embedded in the notion that words can, under certain circumstances, act directly in social reality; thus pornography is not fantasy nor representation, but act. Acting pornography is analyzed in the context of performative speech acts and symbolic power, based on the ideas of Austin, Derrida, Butler and Bourdieu.
