Citation
Description Another volume of the voluminous series on the personality of Daniel Svoboda, a Protestant parish priest in eastern Moravian Rusava. It deals with his relationships with Jozef Miloslav Hurban (his brother-in-law), a leading figure of the Slovak national revival in the 19th century, revolutionary, politician, co-creator of the modern Slovak language, critic, publisher and cleric. More than 160 exchanged letters show their various activities, family life, literary work, personal ties and contacts with friends. The work is supplemented by newspaper contributions by D. Sloboda written in defence of Hurban in 1848-1851 and by documents regarding his contacts with Moravian figures, including F. M. Klácel, M. Mikšíček, J. Helcelet and A. V. Šembera.
