Description Isolation assays on Vero cell cultures were carried out with mosquitoes captured in South Moravia (Czech Republic), 2006-2008. A total of 9,742 female mosquitoes belonging to 13 species were examined, and three viral strains were isolated. Using virus-neutralization microtest and specific immune sera, two isolates were identified as Orthobunyavirus Ťahyňa (both obtained from Aedes vexans mosquitoes), while the third one (from Aedes rossicus) was Flavivirus West Nile (antigenically closely related to the WNV lineage 3 - 'Rabensburg').
