Description The study investigates selected aspects of Functional Sentence Perspective (FSP) in contemporary English news and academic prose, namely the information contour of text, the occurrence of communicative units and communicative fields, violation of the FSP linearity principle, the occurrence of dynamic semantic scales, dynamics of broad and narrow scenes, and the types of thematic progressions, including simple linear thematic progressions, progressions with continuous (constant) themes, and progressions with derived themes. These aspects are taken into consideration to address a hypothesis that FSP phenomena are stylistically relevant.
