Description The goal of our research was to experimentally verify the effectiveness of the new structure of thematic plans in terms of upgrading student motor abilities. The evaluation of the actual level of Police Academy students' motor abilities compared with the rest of the population was also a part of the research. Pedagogical experiment was carried out at Police Academy in Bratislava during two academic years (2003/2004 and 2006/2007) on two different groups of respondents. The experimental variable of our testing was the new structure of thematic plans. For the purpose of our monitoring we used somatic features, selected tests from the Eurofit test battery and currant check-up motor test for the members of Policy Academy. Based on the results we can conclude, that motor performance of Police Academy students is on lower level, like it would be expected. Our experimental research showed, that even in the present semester education of subject physical education with 2 hours weekly, there is the possibility to work on the improvement or at least maintenance motor performance. Main reasons, that are negatively influencing motor performance level, can be seen in low quantity of physical education hours, in substitution of compulsory physical education with voluntary and obligatory, as well as in weak continuity of sport practicing during examination and holiday periods.
